Sunday

On Sunday, October 6th, we went to the Panne Station in Belgium. We waited for the correspondents with excitement. Our correspondents arrived at 2 o’clock. We came back home with our correspondent. We went to the laser game and after that, we ate in the Mc Donnald’s and some went to the park. Finally, we came back home, had dinner and we went to bed. It was a very exciting day!

Monday: The school cross country race.

On Monday,October 7th 2013 there was the cross country race in a park in Coudekerque-Branche. It was sunny all day. The boys started first at 2pm. The first boy of the school was Dany Liévin. The girls started the race at 2:15pm. The first girl of the shcool was Camille Darras followed by Leïla Touguani and Stéphanie Lemaire. They ran for 15 minutes. When they had finished running, they could eat and drink. They were then rewarded on a podium and we went back to school. The walk was long, it lasted 20 minutes.

Visit of Dunkerque

On Monday, October 7th, we went to the centre of Dunkerque by coach .

We saw all the monuments (the Town hall , the Belfry , the statue of Jean-Bart , the Church of Saint Eloi , the Chapel Notre Dame des Dunes…)

We visited Dunkerque on foot .We walked for a long time. The weather was good . We had a questionaire about Dunkerque. The visit was good !

Tuesday

On Tuesday morning, we did activities at school on the pythagorean theorem and fractals.

We worked on the pythagorean theorem from 9o’clock

to 11o’clock and we worked on fractals from 11o’clock

to 12.30 o’clock, and after the work on the fractals we went to have lunch .

In the afternoon, we practised basketball until 4 pm .

Wednesday

We went to Lille by coach at 9.45 AM. First we went to the « Grand Place » (the Main Square). Its official name is « Place Général de gaulle », because Général de gaulle was born in Lille. It is the biggest square in Lille. The old Lille was the poorest part but now this part is the richest. After that we went to the cathedral. Inside there is a statue of Notre Dame de la Treille, she makes miracles if we pray… The building of the cathedral started in 1854 and finished in 1999. The works lasted for 145 years. Then, we saw signs hung in the middle of the streets with the street names on them. After that, we went to Euralille for lunch. Euralille is a big shopping centre. Next to the shopping centre, there are two railway stations: Lille Europe and Lille Flandres. At 12.45 PM, we had some time for shopping. At 1.45 p.m. we went to the Louvre Lens Museum in Lens.

Thursday

The Comenius group went to Lens to visit the Louvre-Lens Museum. Lens is in the north of France.It is a modern and big museum. It opened in December 2012. We saw works from Ancient Egypt and Greece and paintings from the Renaissance. We also saw Eugéne Delacroix's painting « Liberty leading the people ».The Finnish students answered a questionnaire about the works of art with the French students. The Finnish students had audioguides.It was very interesting.

On Thursday, October 10th, we went to Cap Blanc Nez by coach, It was very cold and windy but it didn’t rain! We saw the cliffs and the beach. The Finnish ran on the beach. For them, it was very good. We walked on the beach and the shingle for an hour. And after that, we took the coach, and we went to the City Europe to do some shopping.

On Thursday, October 10th we went to Calais by coach, and we visited the museum. We saw the works of Iris Van Herpen.

The dresses she creates are extraordinary. Lady gaga wore one of the dresses that was in the exhibition. Everbody was surprised. For every collection of dresses, she has a different theme. She uses some metal , leather,bike chains,plastic, fabric…

After that we went to a workshop. We had clay models and we had to dress them with different materials. It was funny !
