FRBV25- Happy families card game about the environment
12 juin 2025A few years ago, as part of another Erasmus+ project, the students had created a happy family game with seven families connected with the environment (environmental activists, environmental organisations, history of energies, renewable energies, disasters, consequences, artists and architects).
As the theme of this hosting week in April was water, we decided to reuse it to improve the students'awareness and knowledge in a larger field. The students were divided into groups of 4 (mixed nationalities).. Each card gave short information in both English and French about each topic.. The game started, following the rules given at the beginning and explained on a card of the deck. The students soon learnt how to play the game and exchanged cards with each other in order to complete the entire "family" of one colour. They were invited to read the information given on each card.
This activity was appreciated by the students because it was both educative and fun. It helped them learn a lot about the different aspects of the environment They had to communicate, cooperate and share. Thus, they also improved their foreign language skills and self-confidence. The students who created the game were very happy to see that their work was useful and was taken into consideration. They felt valued.
The decks of cards are now in the school library and remain available to the students in the school and will also be reused in the future during a hosting week.
