The main objective of the activity about justice and the European Union was presented to the students as follows: to acquire knowledge about European justice, and then pass it on to the other classes in the school in a dynamic way. The final aim is to run a competition between all the classes on the next Europe Day, May 9, 2026. The students themselves chose the medium: a quiz created with the Kahoot application.

First step: a collective reflection on the notion of European justice, in comparison with the justice system in their own country (based on their knowledge). The problem is formulated: what more can European justice bring, and how does it work? A concrete example is given: France was recently condemned by the European Court of Justice for failing to comply with regulations on tap water quality.

Second step - A short 5-minute video is shown to introduce the European Charter of Fundamental Rights. The 6 constituent values of this charter are divided up among the students, who form 6 research teams: Freedom/ Equality/ Justice/ Citizenship/ Dignity/ Solidarity. The work is quite difficult as they have to think about abstract values, and check the meaning of the vocabulary. The websites have been selected by the teachers. Each group then drafts a series of 5 multiple-choice questions (4), based on their database, and a first assessment is implemented in common: a test is carried out, and the corrections made together. The final stage involved correcting and improving the quiz (with an eye to the audience of their fellow students). The Kahoot game will be produced the following year (and therefore not yet published). The students will be the hosts for the day. They plan to explain the theme of the game several weeks beforehand, so that participants (with their teachers) can prepare and learn about the European Charter of Fundamental Rights (part of the civics curriculum).

The students created a slideshow on the 6 values of the Charter and the Kahoot quiz.
