SP24 CAE „Golondrinas“ tour (cruise around Barcelona‘s port)
17 nov. 2024On afternoon students went to a boat trip around Barcelona's Port Vel harbour. We took the underground from Sagrada Família to Parallel, passed by the industrial chimneys that are a symbol of the industrial past of the city of Barcelona, down to Drassanes, wherewe had a glimpse of Christopher Columbus monument, constructed in honor of his first voyage to the new world.
We started our boat tour. Students could see a lot of interesting parts of harbour. In the port they could see Saint Sebastian Tower which is 78 m high with cable cars over the harbour and a clock tower – Torre del Relotge (it used to be a lighthouse), in the part of Barcelonetta. During the cruise they got to know one of the most famous part which is a drawbridge called Europe Gate. They learnt that the port is popular for exporting goods to different countries, such as Algeria or Morocco, but also to other European countries.
