SPB24 MC Welcome to Institut Sert

The headmaster welcomes the students, explains about the week programme and about the school rules (it’s a mobile-free school so, although they can have the mobile during the week, they are not allowed to use it unless they have permission from the teachers). He also emphasizes the need to be punctual as it is a very big group and everything is scheduled. The university researchers from UOC introduce themselves and explain their Erasmus project as well, with the University of Lisboa, Firefighters from Ireland and Fundació Pau Costa to create material for secondary students to raise awareness about wildfire prevention. They explain to the students that they will have an essential role during the week in their project as they will be testing those materials and thus they will be the “pilot” of their Erasmus research programme. 

After that, Sert students show the school to foreign students explaining the specific rooms such as biology, technology, IT, gym, library, the school vegetable gardens, etc. Some older students explain their project about a “greenhouse” and the problems they faced. 

Students see the main differences in size, facilities, organization, etc. between Institut Josep Lluís Sert and their own schools. Here the students work with chromebooks (they have digital books) and mobiles are forbidden in the school. They can see the specific classrooms and compare them with the ones from their countries.
