RO25 Romanian Folk Dance
19 mai 2025The aims of this workshop were to foster respect for diversity and shared European traditions, promote Romanian cultural heritage among international participants and develop communication, collaboration, and artistic expression skills.
The students were gathered together in the reception room of the school and were shown a video showcasing some traditional dances from the Oltenia region.
Then, they started learning the steps of two of them. It was difficult at first, but little by little, everyone caught the rhythm and steps. They all overcame their self-consciousness or shyness and actively participated.
Then, the French students tried to teach the Romanian students a traditional folk dance from the centre of France, but it was really too hard and the success was not immediate.
The aim of the workshop was also to prepare them for the farewell party where they would be asked to perform these dances with the teachers and parents.
This activity offered a memorable educational experience that combined art, culture, and teamwork, in line with the values promoted by the Erasmus+ programme. It Increased intercultural awareness through engagement with Romanian traditions. It gave basic understanding of the music and dance structure from Oltenia region. It developed collaborative, expressive, and reflective skills through artistic expression. It was both educative and entertaining, and much appreciated by the students. It helped increase well-being and self-confidence as well.
