RO25 Târgu Jiu, the city of Constantin Brancusi: presentation

During the activity of La ville by Constantin Brancusi, the students learnt about significant landmarks of Targu Jiu, as well as their historical and cultural importance. The activity started with a brief presentation of the main tourist attractions that included: name and location, historical context, cultural and civic importance, architectural features, as well as interesting facts or legends. To go further and get an in-depth knowledge of the city, the students were invited to come and read slides showcasing detailed facts about the places of interest in the city of Târgu Jiu, focusing on the famous sculptor Constantin Brancusi, who was born nearby and a certain number of works of whom are displayed in the city and are on the UNESCO heritage list.

After that, guided by teachers, the students participated in a series of interactive activities that gave them the opportunity to memorize or use the information presented. They first created a mind map about a place they had chosen in the city and gave information about the place.

Finally, they were asked to design individually an original sculpture and decide which size it would have and what materials they would use.

So, the students learnt about the city of Târgu Jiu and the famous sculptor Constantin  Brancusi, thus improving their general knowledge.

They improved their communication skills. They had to overcome their shyness to speak in front of the group, but in the end, everyone was very active and engaged in the activities.

They developed their creative and artistic skills when designing their original sculpture.
